Protect Our Boys: Intersectional Feminism in the Classroom

Classroom Saviour Seminar - 1 Hour of PD

There is a concerning trend in the online space for the radicalisation of young boys, drawing them into incel culture – the promotion of extreme misogyny. Through an intersectional feminist approach to teaching texts we can unpack the intersection of inequality under the patriarchy – which includes our boys.

Critical thinking built on the foundations of intersectional feminism builds better people and through this powerful tool we as educators are best equipped to protect our boys from the clutches of one of the strongest and most dangerous online trends of our time.

This PD seminar will cover the following:

  • Unpacking the online threat of the manosphere and incel culture

  • Exploring the benefits of intersectional feminism for male students

  • Strategies to analyse texts, narratives and persuasive media
